This Ring (originally titled Fine Woodcarving, established in 1996 by me, Gary "Snick" Ilmanen) is composed of sites that display and promote Fine Woodcarving. This includes web pages that hold not only the fine art sculptures of wood carving professionals but also the work of serious hobbyists and talented amateur carvers. Content is limited to all types of carved wood executed by hand or with the assistance of powertools.

I am a wood sculptor using mostly a small detail carving chainsaw. I do on-site carvings whereas I transform an old growth tree trunk into a work of art or if you don't happen to have an old growth tree destined to be removed I have a wide selection of logs in every size & most species available. All the wood I use for sculpture is either found wood or old growth trees that have been removed & are destined for the landfills, in most cases. This gives these beautiful works of nature a "Second Life" to please peoples imaginations permanently. I also teach chainsaw sculpture privately & teach an accredited course each summer at the Haliburton School of the Arts.

Bill & June are Wildfowl Artists, currently living, teaching and practicing our art together in Centerville, Ohio. I am the Woodcarver and June is the Painter of the carvings. I teach the bird-carving and June, the painting of the carvings since 1988. This blog is primarily intended to be a resource and provided for the Hamonhaus Carvers. They are our current and former students. It would please us very much if all visitors viewing this Blog found our art and carving activities interesting as well. Please tour our blog and sign our guest-page. Happy birding and carving, Bill Hamon
